Our Mission

The mission of the Rockhouse Mountain Institute is to respond to the challenges of the 21st Century. Environmental challenges include global warming, land degradation, ocean degradation, fresh water depletion and the loss of biodiversity. Economic challenges include an unstable financial market, the loss of an industrial base, unemployment and the corresponding downward pressure on wages and income. Cultural challenges include the depreciation of quality in our goods, our built environment and our way of life.

The Rockhouse Mountain Institute is a not-for-profit cultural and educational foundation. It means to find solutions to those challenges and, by so doing, create a building block for a new post-industrial society.

Solutions will be based on supporting and promoting individual freedom, supporting and promoting a sane use of the environment, supporting and promoting a resilient and fulfilling economy, supporting and promoting the arts, and supporting and promoting quality in our culture and our everyday lives.
